The
use of fluorescently tagged antibodies to detect specific
antigens dates as far back as 1942, when Coons et. al. published
a paper entitled “Demonstration of pneumoccocal antigen
in tissues by use of fluorescent antibody” in the Journal
of Immunology. In it, the authors describe experiments in
which concentrated anti-pneumococcal rabbit serum is labeled
with fluorescein-4-isocyanate and used to stain various
tissues from mice that have been infected with pneumococcus
3. This technique, now usually referred to as immunofluorescence
staining or simply immunofluorescence, has been modified
some in the sixty years since it was first introduced, but
it is still widely used today. Because of this, there are
a number of companies involved in antibody production –
most of these companies offer a suite of services that allow
researchers a broad choice of production packages. Take
a look below at a few of these antibody production companies.

Sigma-Genosys |
Sigma-Genosys
provides a complete service for polyclonal antibody production.
The complete antisera service includes high quality custom
peptide synthesis, conjugation, immunization, and sera collection.
We synthesize approximately 10mg of peptide for your antibody
project. The peptide is analyzed by mass spectral and HPLC
analyses to ensure sequence integrity and purity prior to
conjugation. Next, the peptide is conjugated to KLH or BSA
(2-3mg). The peptide-protein conjugate is purified by gel
filtration and freeze dried. The remaining unconjugated
peptide is supplied to the customer
